The industry of iPhone cloning has always been shrouded in exotic mystery

The industry of iPhone cloning has always been shrouded in exotic mystery – well, more or less - so, each time an almost-as-good-as-the-iPhone clone gets out from under this veil, i-gadget fans go “Oooh!” This latest contender may be the catalyst for yet another such reaction.

2008 gave us two worthy i-clones: the HiPhone and the Sciphone i68. When the latter came to life, people thought nothing could be as iPhone-like without actually being an iPhone. The GiPhone F5 might change that – just watch the video below and see what it can do. You can also pore over its complete specs list on the Banggood site. The device does have a more than interesting array of features, like its 16GB flash storage space and the support for multi-finger and finger wipe control methods.

Compared to this, the HiPhone C-002, besides nearly matching the iPhone’s technical innards and exterior shell, also came with special traits that set it apart from other i-clones: it could work with two SIM cards simultaneously, had MMS support and an integrated camera that allowed users to capture images and hold them for ransom. The $239 price-tag it had last winter also differentiated it from its clone counterparts.

The Sciphone i68 went a little bit further, featuring really hi-tech stuff worthy of a quad-band GSM device. It came with a 3.2inch touchscreen (where you could navigate both via finger and stylus), was Bluetooth enabled, had a 1.3-megapixel camera, an FM tuner and more. The Sciphone i68 went on stage last summer and, for some reason, you were supposed to pronounce “Sci” as “Sky.”

The GiPhone F5 is also a quad-band, knows its Bluetooth, features a camera (2 MP, with 1600×1200 resolution), an FM tuner and a whole lot more for $146.99.
